Privacy Policy

The short version: the pegboard planner runs entirely in your browser and never uploads your layout. Analytics is opt-in in the EU, EEA and UK, and on by default with a one-click opt-out everywhere else. Here's the detail.

Your layouts stay on your device

Pegboardly's planner is a client-side tool. Everything you place runs in your browser — there's no account and nothing about your layout is sent to us or stored on a server. We save your work-in-progress in your browser's local storage so it's still there when you come back, and a layout is only ever shared when you copy a share link (which encodes the layout inside the URL you choose to send). In short: no personal data leaves your device through the planner.

Analytics: Google Analytics 4, gated by your region

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which pages and guides are useful — for example, how many people open a guide or the planner. GA4 measures usage in aggregate; we don't use it to identify you. When enabled, it sets cookies in your browser (typically _ga and _ga_<id>) to tell repeat visits apart.

GA4 is gated with Google Consent Mode v2, and how it behaves depends on where you are — which we work out on your device from your browser's time zone (no IP lookup, no third-party request, and nothing about your location leaves your browser).

In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland it's opt-in: every signal — analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization — starts denied, and nothing analytics-related loads until you choose "Accept" in our consent banner; choose "Reject" and the signals stay denied and GA4 never runs.

Everywhere else (for example the US and Canada) analytics is on by default: analytics_storage starts granted so GA4 can measure usage, while the three ad-related signals stay denied until we actually run ads or you accept — and no banner is shown. Because we read only the time zone your browser already exposes, this is a best-effort region check, not precise geolocation.

Wherever you are, you can set an explicit choice for this browser at any time and we'll remember it:

Analytics preference for this browser.

We also use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools verification, which confirm we own the site and report search queries — they don't track your behaviour on the page and aren't part of the consent banner.

Cookies & local storage

  • Theme preference — local storage, first-party. Remembers light/dark mode. Not a tracking cookie.
  • Consent choice — local storage, first-party. Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics so we don't ask again.
  • Planner autosave — local storage, first-party. Keeps your current layout.
  • Google Analytics_ga / _ga_<id>, set when analytics is on (by default outside the EU/EEA/UK, or after you accept).

Advertising

Pegboardly is currently ad-free. We plan to show ads from Google AdSense on the content pages later (never on the planner). When that happens, AdSense may set its own cookies for ad delivery and measurement; those will be governed by the same Consent Mode v2 signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization), and EU/UK visitors will manage them through a Google-certified consent platform. This policy will be updated before any ad ships.

Affiliate links

The product links in our parts lists and guides are currently plain and untagged — we earn no commission. If we join affiliate programs in future, we'll mark those links as sponsored and explain everything on our affiliate disclosure page. It won't change what you pay.

What we considered

We looked at cookieless analytics such as Plausible and Umami, which don't set cookies or collect personal data at all. We chose GA4 for its depth and Search Console integration, and gate it behind explicit consent to keep the privacy trade-off in your hands. If that balance changes, this page will say so.
